LBS interview
Who said that interviews have to grueling, nerve-wracking experiences? I wish everyone had an interview like I did recently with an alum from LBS. It was relaxed, flowed more or less like a natural conversation, the alum had memorized every detail from my application (better than I had....) and was sincerely interested in what I had to say. It took about an hour and 45 minutes, but I swear, time just flew by (doesn't it always when talking about oneself!). The alum was really enthusiastic about his LBS experience and talked freely and frankly about the school. Questions ranged from the ubiquitous 'why did you choose your degree/job?' and 'what do you like to do in your spare time' to specific questions about my application. Other areas that were touched were leadership ('what's your personal style' 'give an example of how you lead a team and conviced people'), general questions about the industry I'm in now, about the industry I'm wanting to move in to, and then capped off by the 5 minute impromptu presentation. The alum offered some good advice too, ranging from social aspects of school to starting preparation for school as soon as you know that/where you're going. All in all, it was a good experience, I really enjoyed it. Now I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the decision on the 24th.
